Over the past month 2OL has been learning about all sorts of graphs. We’ve looked at line plots, bar graphs, pictographs, venn diagrams and others. Some of the key elements of graphs that we’ve discussed are titles, headings, labels, eye appeal and keys. The students have also explored many different ways of collecting data.

Currently the kids are working in pairs on a data collection project. Each group came up with a question they wanted answered. They also decided who they wanted to answer this specific question. They chose classrooms from kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade. Off on their own, they went into different classrooms collecting data. Now they are in the process of creating graphs to show the information they collected. They truly enjoyed asking other kids from around the school questions like: “What’s your favorite Harry Potter movie?” or “Who is your favorite football player?”

I can’t wait to see the final outcomes!! Below are some of the graphs we did together as a class. Can you tell who is the tallest student?
