Math Strategy of the Week

Students, Teachers 1 Comment »

Each day students are solving problems in so many different ways. They share their strategies with classmates and with adults in the classroom. It’s important that the students try out new strategies to help them improve and become more efficient problem solvers. Playing with numbers,  pulling numbers apart and putting them back together help students to become stronger mental math thinkers. Each week I share at least one strategy  that a student has used to solve a problem. I try and share strategies that we may not have seen before or strategies that really seem to work for kids. These student strategies get posted on the wall for all to refer back to and try out.

This weeks strategy was used by Luke B. Thanks for sharing with us Luke!

APPLECREST FIELD TRIP

It was a hit! Our trip to Applecrest on Friday was a success. The students had a great time picking their apples from the trees and looking for the biggest and brightest apples. Along with apple picking, we learned many different facts about apples including how the apples are stored, cleaned and what they are used for. The cider donuts and apple cider was delicious. The hayride was a blast and we loved watching the bees work so hard. 2OL had and wonderful experience and learned many new facts they would like to share below.
